Mas Camps: the rooms and views

Mas Camps is in the middle of the vineyards. That's us in the distance in the picture. Estagel is 3km to our East and Maury is 7km to the West. We are 25km outside Perpignan; the drive takes around 20 minutes.

Our only neighbours run the Mas Camps winery just next door which they'll show you around if you ask.

The reading/TV room. The TV here receives French and Spanish programmes and UK satellite TV is available on request.

Rooms 1 to 5 look over the vineyards with Queribus Castle in the distance. These rooms give an excellent view and are pleasantly cool in Summer but they can feel a bit chilly in Winter.

This is room 1. It shares a toilet and shower room with room 2. It looks across the road to the vineyards and mountains. Don't worry about being close to the road as it's generally very quiet after about 7pm.

Room 2. It isn't ensuite but has lovely views. It looks over the vineyards and Queribus Castle to the left and across the road to more vineyards and mountains to the right.

Room 3. Normally a double ensuite (bath, shower and toilet) but we can make it into a triple room. Views over the vineyards and Queribus Castle. Next door to room 2.

Room 4. Views over the vineyards and Queribus Castle. Twin ensuite (bath, shower and toilet) room. Next door to room 3.

Room 5. Double ensuite (bath, shower and toilet). Views over the vineyards and Queribus Castle to the right and across the roof of the gîte to our mountain to the left. Next door to room 4.

Rooms 6 and 7 overlook our courtyard. In Winter these rooms receive the benefit of the morning sun and are often pleasantly warm even without the heating; that sun makes for quite a hot room in Summer if the shutters aren't closed during the day.

Room 6. Double ensuite (bath, shower and toilet) room. Views across the roof of our outside rooms to our mountain to the right and across our courtyard to the winery and vineyards beyond it to the left. Facing room 5.

Room 7. Normally a double ensuite (bath, shower and toilet) but we can make it into a triple room. View across our courtyard to the winery and vineyards beyond it. Next door to room 2. We have added a TV (French/Spanish programmes only) and a DVD player since this photo was taken. Next door to room 6. This room is air-conditioned in Summer.

All the ensuite bathrooms in the main building have a bathroom similar to this with bath/shower, bidet, washbasin and WC. The bathrooms in the courtyard rooms are similar except that they don't have a bath.

The main bedroom of our gîte which is ensuite (bath, shower and toilet). We sometimes rent this out as a standalone double room and frequently as one bedroom of our family suite.

The lounge of our gîte. The bed can be converted to a settee if there are only two people in the gîte. This is frequently the second bedroom of our family suite or four person hotel room.

The dining room of our gîte. Neither this room nor the small kitchen are available when the gîte is rented as a four person hotel room.

Our restaurant. Mainly used by hotel guests and for wedding receptions etc. Normally it seats up to 22 but we can cater for up to 50 for functions. We offer a choice between continental breakfast and English (cooked) breakfast. In the evenings we offer a choice of menus from Monday to Saturday which we vary each day. We have another couple of outside ensuite rooms (one double, one twin and one that we can use as either a twin or double), on ground level at the back of the courtyard. Generally speaking, we only use those rooms in the peak Summer season as they're a bit more basic than the others. As all our other rooms are upstairs, we will need to allocate you one of these rooms if you require a disabled access room.

We change the rooms around now and again, redecorate, etc. so the room you get might not look exactly the same as in the photo above. As one example, we've bought lovely new bedspreads for almost all the rooms, which appear in some of the above photos. We're also gradually upgrading the technology in the rooms by adding TVs and DVD players although the two feet thick stone walls has made this much harder than expected so they're only in room 7 at the moment.

Although you can request a specific room, we'd rather you didn't as it can really complicate life for us. In particular, during the Summer we really can't guarantee to meet any room requests as it could force us to reject later reservations even if they didn't request a specific room. Outside the summer season (broadly mid-June to mid-September) it's not so much of a problem.
